Why can’t I log in to a Community Server site even though the log in process is successful?

Today I had the issue that I was able to log in to the community server site in Internet Explorer but using Google Chrome it wouldn't let me. I would go to the Log in screen and it would take me right back to the home page without logging me in. Any ideas why it would work fine in IE 7 and not in Google Chrome?
